Altar Guild
The Altar Guild originated early in the first centuries of the life of the Church. Initially, it functioned only with women volunteers skilled in sewing and mending, ironing, cleaning, polishing and flower arrangement prescribed strictly by rules, customs and traditions.
Today, membership in the Guild is open to both men and women who serve as the priest's partner in preparing the church for regular worship as well as for special services such as weddings, funerals, etc.
In addition to "housekeeping" duties, Guild members have a unique opportunity to learn and appreciate the significance of the symbols embossed on the vessels and linens used in the Eucharist.
In their work together, Guild members develop enduring friendships and an appreciation for the corporate journey in faith with other church members.
If you feel called to work with the Altar Guild, contact any of the team leaders listed in the weekly service leaflet. They will be delighted to hear from you.
