2021
JULY 5 – DECEMBER 5
WHAT IS A HOPEATHON?You may have heard of a "Hackathon", which is a competitive sprint-like event where computer programmers, and others involved in software development, collaborate intensively on a software project. Think of them as an invention marathon, where attendees dream up and bring to life ideas. Our Hopeathon, is an altruistic hackathon with a positive twist. Our competing applicants will have a goal to produce a web based video game that also encourages moral excellence in the area of chastity, temperance, generosity, diligence, patience, gratitude, humility, faith, hope, love and respect.
|
Who can participate?Hopeathon Hawaii's competing teams must be a student in middle school and or high school. Our Hopeathon will largely be held online. The final weekend, before judging, will be held in person. As a result, applicants are currently limited to Hawaii residence. Though the competition is held on the island of Oahu, this does not mean that outer island are excluded. Feel free to get a team together and start planning.
Applicants not residing on Oahu may be eligible for a stipend to supplement travel, housing and food costs. Please email us at hopeathonhawaii@gmail.com to discuss this possibility further. |
How do I get started?Applicants and their team members that are interested in competing in our Hopeathon must submit their application, with their idea for our judges and board members to review. After the application period deadline, applicants will be notified that their idea has been accepted into the competition and can continue to pursue efforts and prepare for the competition.
